What is the Warm Home Discount and who gets it?

A one-off £150 discount off your electricity bill for winter 2026–27. In England and Wales you're in the 'core group' if your supplier is part of the scheme, you or your partner get certain means-tested benefits (Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, income-related ESA, or Pension Credit) and your name is on the electricity bill. Most eligible households get it automatically; in Scotland you usually apply to your supplier. The scheme reopens in October 2026.

Is ECO4 still open and when does it end?

ECO4 is confirmed to end on 31 December 2026, with no direct successor supplier obligation. It funds insulation, boiler replacement or heating upgrades for households on qualifying benefits (in private housing, rated EPC D–G, or social housing rated E–G). You apply via a participating energy supplier or your local council — never pay a fee to apply.

How much is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant?

£7,500 off an air-source or ground-source heat pump (£9,000 for off-gas-grid homes from July 2026), taken off your invoice by an MCS-certified installer. You must own the property and be replacing a fossil-fuel heating system. Vouchers are issued by Ofgem through MCS-certified installers; the £9,000 off-gas-grid uplift is available from 21 July 2026 until 31 March 2027 (Ofgem guidance). Check current dates on GOV.UK.
